I edited this image using Perfect Photo Suite 9.
Yes I have moved over to Perfect Suite for now. Lets see how I get on. I feel somewhat disloyal to the Nik software.
But time moves on.
To be honest it is quite similar to Nik Silver Efex Pro – well it would be as at the end of the day it is converting an image from colour to black and white, and there are only so many variables.
All I want from my black and white. Image processing software is a quick way to get great results. I know there is no magic button that does this, no silver bullet (I love using that term) but you know what I mean.
First things first the software needs to load quickly, which was a bit of a problem when I was producing the new black and white version of the picture of Dorset Red Post. Just a blip – it loaded fine the second time.
This is what I did to produce this black and white image.
I used Ansel in the Valley! Yes really. It gave me the look I was after.
I used a red filter which completely undid what the preset did. No matter I am still liking what is on my screen so lets not worry too much!!
That was it really.
Not the best image to trial new software on to be fair but it made a reasonable job which I am quite happy with.
I will gladly add this image to the web page imaginatively called black and white landscape photography in Dorset - well at least you know what you are getting!!.
