Bathroom with a view by Rick McEvoy Interior Photographer in Cornwall.
Something not from my portdolio today, but could be the start of a new series on hotels.
I like this shot, which I took at a hotel we stayed at recently in Bude, Cornwall. I liked the location and the view. It is an intersteing thought to be able to look out from your hotel bath and have such an immediate view of, well the world going by.
I often photograph hotels I stop in, but quite often do not. This room was such a great space with loads of natural light in the bathroom and that view.
I was definitely drawn to this composition.. The image above is the final edit. Nice, Happy with that.
This is my first edit.
The only differences to this image are the tidying up I have done in Photoshop. I have removed the sign above the bath and the bit of furniture you can see to the right. And a few blemishes.
But that's all. I wasn't going to remove every mark and imperfection - I wanted to reflect the actual space not a Photoshopped interpretation of perfection.
Sorry I should have said. The top image is an HDR Merge, a technique I love for my interior photography work. So the image immediately above is the HDR Merge with some dodging and burning and tonal adjustments.
Back to the starting point. This is the RAW image out of camera with no adjustment at all. One single RAW image.
Dull and flat but the content is there. Even now I am amazed by what can be done to such a RAW file.
Finally for now the final edit further edited using Nik Color Efex Pro 4, using the following presets.
- Detail Extractor
Tomorrow I will post the black and white edits.
Thanks for reading this post. I have a page just about my work as an interior photographer which you get to at this link
Sorry one final thing - this is not a product shot for St Kitts Herbery, who's products are on the bath!
