Stock Photography in 2017 – this is my plan for the year and my landscape photography work

Basically I am going to focus on my stock submissions in January. And February. And the rest of 2017.

I have various outlets for my stock photography, including on my own website stock pages where clients will be able to purchase images directly from me, either digitally or as limited edition signed prints.

I am currently working on this fine art stock photography section on my website which will cover the following areas of the UK

  • Dorset
  • Hampshire
  • Cornwall
  • Wiltshire

New locations  will be added as and when I have a enough high quality images to sell.

I also have images for sale with Loop Images and Image Brief.

There are new opportunities appearing all the time, including Go Stock Yourself who approached me this December 2016 asking me if I would be interested in joining their new venture. Such approaches are always quite exciting.

I also post my photographic work on 500 PX and Instagram, both of which have a stock element to them.

So my plan is to get more high quality stock images on my chosen platforms. That is it, Quite easy. I like a plan.

This is going to be the focus of January 2017.

I am going to select 50 images which I captured in 2016 which I will process for Stock.

This might mean going through my 2016 images, over 5000 of them. Well of course it will.

But needs must – I need to get on with this and that is my target for January, and every subsequent month. So the first job is to go through my 2016 catalogue. I am going to focus solely on my landscape photography work. Which means I do not have to go through all my architectural and interior photography work. This helps.

If only I had organised my images from 2016 properly! At least I will have a plan for how to do this by then.

Second job is to get to grips with luminosity masks, which I am going to use to process my images. There is a particular style I am after. I know what I want to be able to create, and I want to master this and then produce my own style of work.

By the end of January 2017 I will have 50 brand new edited images for submission to stock sites. And in February 2017 I will do this all over again. If I do this all year I will have 600 images for sale on stock sites, as well as on my own website.

That is all about stock photography for now – keep calling back to my blog for updates over the course of January. And there will be lots of them!
